PM felicitates Mansa college student for best essay on Swachh Bharat
MANSA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated Ramandeep Kaur, 21, a resident of Chak Bhai Ke village in Mansa district for winning a national essay writing competition, in New Delhi, on Monday.
Ramandeep had participated in the competition that was organised by the Union ministry of human resource development on Teachers’ Day (September 5). The essay competition was on the theme ‘What I will do to make India clean’.
She won a cash prize of ₹50,000 that was awarded during a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Sunday.
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organised the essay competition at the village level.
The best three entries from each district were sent to the state government. The best essay from every state was then sent to the Centre, which in turn selected the best three essays.
An undergraduate student at Bhai Behlo Girls College, Mansa, Ramandeep has won accolades in past for participating in statelevel essay competitions.
“I was inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan inaugurated by the PM. Our country’s image always takes a hit when foreigners visit India. I always wanted to do contribute in this drive,” said Ramandeep.
A civil service aspirant, she is also active in social services. “I want to pursue higher studies and will take the civil services examination,” she said.
