OLD AGE IS A TIME TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE MEMORIES OF YOUTH

- Bidyut Kumar Sanyal

Nobody can predict how our old age will be. So, it’s important for us to live each moment and also cherish the days that have passed. When the memories of your first day of school, the first love of your life, or your first day at work return to mind, one is filled with the feeling of nostalgia.

Not just this, memories of those moments that were not-so-good will also fill our thoughts. Those memories provide us life lessons. There is no point in running away from these memories for they have shaped our lives and made us what we are today.

To tell the truth, old age is an asset of our life that gives us a window to our past life. But, at the same time, we might be worried about whether we are becoming a burden to our children or not.

The pace of our day-to-day activities decreases and we even require help to complete simple tasks. This prepares us slowly for the eternal silence of death. However, the other side of our old age is very remarkable, because we are able to be around our near and dear ones.

Sometimes we spend time by observing our grand children playing. We also join other old people in conversations to share their daily experiences of life. It is up to us how we decide to spend the last days of our life, in dread of death or in the happiness of our loved ones.
