Principal booked for abetting suicide of Class-9 girl student
ROHTAK Police have booked the principal of a private school,SB Model School, for abetment of suicide of a Class 9 girl student.
The victim Kiran (15) died after she hanged herself at her residence on Thursday evening. Kiran’s family complained to the police that she committed suicide after she was humiliated and beaten up by her school principal Krishna Rohilla.
They said she had complained to the principal about one of the boys in her class harassing her.
But instead of taking action against the boy, the principal insulted her and beat her up in front of the whole class for “cooking up a false story”, they said. The family claimed that the boy in question was a relative of the principal.
“The principal called us to the school on Thursday. That time, too, she took the boy’s side and insulted my daughter in front of me. She threatened to expel my daughter saying she did not want such children in the school. This really hurt my daughter who hanged herself after returning home,” Kiran’s mother Meena Devi said.
The family said after Kiran hanged herself, they rushed her to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak.
Few hours into treatment, the PGIMS referred her to a private hospital due to non-availability of ventilator, the family said. She succumbed on the way and was declared brought dead by doctors at the Oscar Hospital.
The police have booked the principal for abetment to suicide. Shivaji Colony police station in-charge said no arrest was made so far and they were probing the matter.
