TARNTARAN: A 50-year-old woman was reportedly found murdered in her under-construction home in Sham Colony on Bath Road, Tarn Taran, on Friday.

The deceased is identified as Harjinder Kaur.

Her daughter Amanpreet Kaur, 25, said in her police complaint that she made repeated calls to her mother on Thursday, but she did not answer them. On Friday, she, along with her husband and father-in-law, headed to her house fearing some tragedy.

They first went to her mother’s rented accommodation in Preet Nagar, Tarn Taran, but the house was locked. Following this, they headed to her mother’s under-construction house in Sham Colony.

“On reaching the house, we found her brutally injured body in the washroom,” Amanpreet said.

She added that her mother’s body “was drenched in blood” and it “appeared that someone killed her by hitting her on the head with sharp-edged weapons”.

Meanwhile, station house officer (SHO) of Sadar police station, inspector Harit Sharma, said a case under sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unidentified people.

“The investigation is on and the accused will be arrested soon,” he said.

However, Amanpreet claimed that her mother had hired some painters and that she suspects them to be involved in the crime. “In my statement I mentioned that the painter, Gurbhej Singh, a resident of Feloke village, and his two aides were involved in the killing of my mother. But, the police did not even bother to mention their name in the first information report,” she alleged.
