Congress, INLD politicising issue: Haryana food minister
KARNAL: Haryana minister of state for food and supplies Karan Dev Kamboj has accused opposition party leaders of misleading farmers over the Dadupur-Nalvi canal issue.
“Even farmers in Shahbad region are happy with the government’s decision of scrapping the long-pending project by denotifying the land acquired for the canal, but the leaders of the opposition parties are trying to mislead the farmers over the issue,” Kamboj said while talking to the media in Karnal on Saturday.
The motive behind the construction of the canal was to recharge the ground water but in lack of response by the farmers to give land for the completion of the project, the very purpose of the canal was defeated, he said adding, farmers had approached the court for hiking compensation that the government was unable to pay.
“Farmers of the region are actually saying thank you, but leaders of the INLD and Congress parties, who failed to complete the project during their regime are misleading the people and politicising the issue,” he added.
The minister said that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar led BJP government in the state was true well-wisher of the farmers.
After inspecting procurement operations in grain market of Karnal the minister said that the procurement started from October .
He added farmers and commission agents have no complaints about the procurement and lifting of paddy.
He said the state government has made elaborate arrangements for the procurement and timely lifting of paddy from the grain markets and the government has ensured that the payment should be disbursed to the farmers without any delay.
The minister said that ground level officers have been told to monitor the procurement operations closely.
He added that the state’s citizens needed to make sure that did not fall prey to propagand of the opposition parties.
