Govt to pay interest on loans, launch new brand for SHGs

ROHTAK The state government will pay interest rate on loans that Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) that are working under National Rural Livelihood Mission, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced at a statelevel funnction held for SHGs in Bhiwani on Saturday. He said the government will pay this interest rate till the time each member of the group starts earning an income of Rs 1 lakh a year.

He also announced awards for the first three such groups in every district on the basis of annual income. The first position will get Rs 1 lakh, the secong gets Rs 50,000 and the third Rs 25,000. Developmen­t and Panchayats minister OP Dhankar announced the launch of a new brand in market for the products produced by these SHGs.

AMBITIOUS TARGET

He said the state government would promote the products of groups by building a brand. Efforts would be made to increase the annual turnover of such groups to Rs 5,000 crore from Rs 130 crore in five years.

“We are trying to connect six lakh families through the National Rural Livelihood Mission and hope we succeed,” he added.

Meanwhile, on internatio­nal karate player, Priyanka of Bhiwani, on Saturday claimed that the Bhiwani DC and members of security staff misbehaved with her when she tried to meet the CM during his rally here.
