20yrold girl gangraped in Tarn Taran, 3 booked

Three people have been booked for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl in Munda Pind village of Tarn Taran district. The alleged crime took place on the intervenin­g night of October 1 and 2. However, the complainan­t did not inform police fearing the accused as she was allegedly threatened by them.

The accused are Gurjant Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Gursewak Singh, all residents of Munda Pind village.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the complainan­t said she lodged a police complaint on October 4 and the case was registered on October 7.

In her complaint, she has stated that she was with her mother at home when the crime took place. She added that as she was closing the main gate at around 11 pm, the accused kidnapped her and took her to a nearby farmhouse.

She added that the accused gangrapped her and also threatened to kill her if she informs anyone about it.

“The three men also clicked my photograph­s in their mobile phones during the crime and blackmaile­d me,” she said.

Assistant sub inspector (ASI) Ranjit Kaur said a case under sections 376 D (offence of rape), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinemen­t), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidati­on) of the Indian Panel Code has been registered against the accused.

“All the accused are absconding. We will arrest them soon,” she said.
