24YEAROLD MAN BEATEN TO DEATH OVER LOVE AFFAIR

MOGA: In a suspected case of honour killing, a 24-year-old man was murdered by four youths, including brother of a girl he was having an affair with, at Darapur village on Monday.

The deceased Tarsem Singh, 24, of Darapur village was a labourer and was returning home from work when the incident took place.

On statements of Tarsem’s family members, the police have booked four persons, including girl’s brother Kuljinder Pal Singh, and three cousins, Harpreet Singh, Ravi Singh and Manpreet Singh of the same village.

Police said that Kuljinder suspected that Tarsem and his sister, who is studying in Class 12, were having an affair, and on Monday, he along with his cousins attacked Tarsem with swords and baseball bats.

“Tarsem, who sustained an injury on his head, died on the spot. The accused persons managed to flee,” said Ramesh Pal, station house officer, sadar police station, Moga.

He said that police are conducting raids to nab the accused.

A case under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtheranc­e of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at sadar police station, Moga.
