‘HARSHITA KILLED ON ORDERS OF SISTER’S HUBBY’

NEW DELHI: Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya was killed by four men on the direction of her brother-in-law and gangster Dinesh Karala, police said. Karala revealed the murder conspiracy during interrogat­ion after he was brought from Jhajjar jail on a production warrant, SP Rahul Sharma said. Karala was produced before a court, which sent him to four-day police remand. The accused revealed names of his four accomplice­s who killed Dahiya but they cannot be disclosed at the moment, he said.

The Sonepat police said they had arrested Harshita on May 2, 2016, along with close associates of Ravinder Pugthala, a dreaded gangster who was shot dead in encounter by Sonepat police in February .

Sonepat CIA inspector Indivar Singh saidthey had received a tip off about the hideout of Ravinder . On raiding the location, they found Harshita with two close associates of Ravinder. The three possessed illicit weapons and fired shots in the air to save themselves from police, before being arrested.

“Harshita was arrested along with Shakti and Deepak, two associates of gangster Ravinder. All three were booked for possessing illegal weapons. At that time, Harshita had told her name as Geeta. Last year she had submitted documents in court claiming to be a minor and was granted bail,” Indivar said.

The police said it was a matter of investigat­ion if Harshita forged documents and age certificat­e. Sources said it was possible that she had joined rival Ravinder’s gang to save herself from brother-in-law.
