House set to witness uproar over Dadupur-Nalvi scrapping

CHANDIGARH The forthcoming Haryana assembly session which begins from October 23 is all set to witness uproar over recent issues, especially the recent scrapping of the Dadupur-Nalvi canal scheme by the ruling BJP government.

The principal opposition party, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) as well as Congress, have already condemned the government’s decision to scrap the scheme.

The INLD also submitted a memorandum to governor seeking reversal of the BJP government’s decision.

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala said the scrapping of the said project that was conceived in 1985, would hit the farmers of northern Haryana.

As many as 1,019 acres of land had been acquired till now and project’s second phase was in progress after spending about Rs 209 crore, the state government had decided on September 27 to scrap the project, instead of paying higher compensation to farmers whose land had been acquired for the project.

FIXING SUGARCANE PRICE ANOTHER ISSUE

Another issue the INLD was likely to raise was fixing sugarcane price as per Swaminathan panel report.

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda had also condemned the state government for its inept handling of the project and abrupt scrapping.

According to tentative programme, the assembly session is likely to be of three days.

On Day one, which would start at around 2 pm, would have obituaries and laying of papers while on October 24, presentation, discussion and voting would be held on the supplementary estimates (first instalment) for 2017-2018.

On October 25, legislative business and any other business would be undertaken.
