BJP HITS OUT AT VIRBHADRA FOR HIS FLIPFLOP ON SEAT

SHIMLA : Amid the poll din, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Satpal Singh Satti launched an offensive against chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday over the latter’s flipflop on selecting an assembly segment to contest the election.

In a statement issued here Satti said, Virbhadra’s running away from Theog to Arki reflects the chief minister’s dilemma as to which assembly segment will be better option for his last election.

“The dilemma was due to the reason that Virbhadra had sought votes in 2012 election stating it to be his last,” alleged Satti. The BJP chief said that Virbhadra’s present term as chief minister was not very unsatisfactory as people continued to reel under various problems.

“While the people in urban areas struggled to get their houses regularised, the rural populace faced the problem of stray cattle, shortage of drinking water and conditions of roads,” he alleged.

Accusing Virbhadra Singh of misleading the public for whole five years, Satti said the people of his previous assembly segment, Rohru, want to know why their area was still being considered backward.

He said that the condition in Rohru is so poor that there are no doctors in hospital, no teachers in schools and if there is a power cut, it takes weeks to be restored.

“Virbhadra should have developed Rohru as a model assembly segment. However, the condition of his present constituency Shimla (rural) is no better than Rohru,” he alleged.

“When a chief minister fails to develop his own constituency what can be expected from him in the state,” he added.
