SHIMLA/DHARMASHALA Former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit attacked the Narendra Modi-led central government for inflation. In a press conference here on Sunday, the Congress displayed pulses, vegetables and LPG cylinder, saying that the prices of all commodities have gone up.

Dixit further said the BJP government has been misleading the people of the country but there is no check on inflation.

The Congress leader further said, “While the BJP made inflation an issue during the UPA regime led by Manmohan Singh, why is it silent today when there is no check on inflation. The government recently increased prices of LPG cylinder.”

MODI DAMAGED THE ECONOMY: SURJEWALA

All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Randeeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday said Modi had “damaged” the economy through steps like demonetisation and hasty implementation of GST.

Addressing an election rally at Dharamshala, Surjewala likened the Prime Minister with 14th century ruler Muhammad-binTughluq, who is remembered for his infamous currency change which ultimately led to fall of his empire. “Decisions of Modi government are similar to that of Muhammad-bin-Tughluq and the common man is the ultimate sufferer,” said Surjewala.

He also criticised the Centre for frequent hike in domestic LPG cylinder price and imposing heavy excise duty on diesel and petrol despite low price of crude oil in international basket.
