INLD seeks removal of toll plaza in Hisar; threatens stir
PARTY SAYS ONE OF TWO TOLL PLAZAS — ON THE SIRSAHISAR ROAD NEAR CHIKANWAS VILLAGE OR ON THE HISARDELHI ROAD — MUST BE SHUT
HISAR: Claiming that the state government was collecting toll tax in an ‘unauthorised manner’, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala has announced the launch of a stir from December 1 to push for removal of the toll plaza at any one of two such facilities, located just 37km apart. The two toll plazas are one on the Sirsa-Hisar road near Chikanwas village and the second is on the Hisar-Delhi road near Ramayan village.
While making the announcement, Chautala was addressing a panchayat of members of the Khap and Jan panchayat organised at Mayyar village of this district. Speaking with media persons, Chautala said, “From Chikanwas toll plaza to the Ramayan toll plaza, the distance is just 37 km. According to rules, the distance must be at least 60 km before toll can be charged. Vehicle owners are paying unauthorised tax at the toll plaza.”
“We have decided that if the government does not shut down any one of these toll plazas, INLD workers will start protest from December 1. If required, I will break the first pillar,” Chautala added.
INLD leader from Agroha Ravi Beniwal said members of panchayats of six villages were ready to protest against the toll plaza. “The panchayat will also submit memorandum to the district administration to be forwarded to the PM,” he added.
