NO ONE WILL FILE NOMINATION AGAINST RAHUL, SAYS HOODA

-

ROHTAK : Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said elections for the Congress president’s post will not be necessary as no one will stand against Rahul Gandhi for the party’s top post.

“Rahul will become the president on December 5, which is the date of filing nominations. No one will contest against him, so the process will not drag on till elections and counting,” Hooda said. Recently, Hooda’s son and Rohtak Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda had said party members were free to contest for the president’s post against Rahul.

The former CM said, regarding Haryana Congress’ president elections, party member in the state had already unanimously passed a resolution and sent it to Sonia Gandhi.

“It is up to her now and she will take a decision for what she thinks is good for the party,” he said. The Congress leader also asked his party member Shashi Tharoor to apologise for his wide-crack on the newly crowned Miss World Manushi Chhillar’s surname.

The former CM attacked the state government and said he was surprised that it had not yet announced any reward for Chhillar for doing Haryana and India proud.

“If we were in the government, we would have already given her a plot in Gurgaon and ₹6 crore, treating her achievement as an Olympic gold. I urge the govt to honour her,” Hooda said.
