CHANDIGARH: Haryana BJP leader Suraj Pal Amu, who had offered a ~10 crore bounty for anyone who beheaded Padmavati actor Deepika Padukone and film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, resigned on Wednesday as the chief media coordinator of the party’s state unit.
The resignation comes days after the Haryana BJP sent him a notice asking him to explain his controversial remarks.
In his resignation letter to state BJP chief Subhash Barala sent on Whatsapp, Amu said he was upset over chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar allegedly skipping a meeting with representatives of the Rajput Karni Sena on Tuesday.
“I am hurt over the CM’S behaviour with Rajput leaders yesterday (Tuesday). There is a group of unwanted people surrounding the CM and is taking him away from party’s hardworking and dedicated people,” Amu said in his letter.
Separately, he spoke to reporters and said, “Now my dream is to slap Farooq Abdullah at Lal Chowk. I challenge him to meet me there.”
Though the chief minister’s schedule did not specify any appointment, Amu maintained that he had been given time for a meeting.
