Nabha teen murder: Friend had planned it, say cops

NABHA: A day after the murder of 17-year-old-rajat Arora by his friend and a former classmate here, the Nabha police said the accused had planned the killing well in advance. “The accused had been planning this crime for many days. They had not only kept a sharp-edged weapon ready, but also dug up a pit in the Bir Dosanjh sanctuary to bury him.

FARIDKOT: Five persons were booked on charges of murder here on Saturday , a day after a 21-year-old man’s body was found in Sadiq village. Police investigat­ions claim that Varinder Singh was murdered for allegedly having an affair with a woman in Mani Singh Wala village. The woman, Gurmeet Kaur, and her husband Sonu Singh are among those booked and reportedly in detention along with Bhola Singh, Laddi Singh and Amrik Singh, all residents of Mani Singh Wala.

Police said Varinder was missing from November 29 and his body found on December 1 after it had been mutilated by dogs. Sources said Varinder’s farms adjoin those of Gurmeet Kaur’s family, and Sonu planned the murder after he came to know of their affair.

SSP Nanak Singh said, “We have registered the case and investigat­ion is under process.” The case has been registered under section 302 (murder) and other charges as per the Indian Penal Code.

The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examinatio­n.
