CHANDIGARH: The executive committee of the principal opposition party in Haryana – the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) – on Saturday passed several resolutions condemning the ruling BJP government, especially for the sharp rise in the crime in the state. Presided over by the leader of opposition Abhay Chautala and state president Ashok Arora, the INLD executive committee which met in Bhiwani.

In another resolution, the party condemned the rising dependence on toll barriers to upgrade existing roads and then spreading a network of toll barriers as a move meant to fill the coffers oprivate companies.

INLD has decided that it will step up its opposition to the policy and would hold demonstrations at Gharaunda on December 11, Sonepat on December 12, Rohtak on December 13, Gurugram on December 14 and Hisarsirsa on December 15.

They said that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report on crime incidence in the state had exposed the government. The growing crime statistics revealed that while the chief minister Manohar Lal Khattarled state government was busy celebrating festivals, the common man, particularly women, dalits and the vulnerable sections of the society had been victims of heinous crimes.

In another resolution, the INLD also demanded that all cases filed against farmers in the state for stubble burning be withdrawn since the government has not been able to offer an effective alternative.

It said that before holding the farmers guilty of polluting the environment, the government should provide them implements that would rule out stubble burning.

The INLD also strongly condemned the BJP government’s decision to amend the Motor Vehicles Act to include tractors in the category of commercial vehicles.

The resolution said that it would not only increase the cost of the tractors, but also bring it under the purview of all laws governing commercial vehicles.

ALL CASES FILED AGAINST FARMERS IN THE STATE FOR STUBBLE BURNING BE WITHDRAWN, THE PARTY HAS RESOLVED
