SUPER CITY
Manchester City's win on Sunday night helped them open up an 11-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. HT highlights the positives from City’s campaign so far:
ENDING UNITED’S RUN
Nicolas Otamendi's second-half winner condemned Manchester United to their first home loss in 40 games in all competitions. Incidentally, it was City who had last got the better of the Red Devils at Old Trafford in the corresponding fixture last season.
GOALS GALORE
City have netted a whopping 48 goals in the league so far. Only Neymar’s Paris-saint Germain stand above them in the top-five leagues in Europe, with 51 goals in the French league thus far.
PEP EXTENDS RECORD
The Manchester derby marked the 20th meeting between the two managers. Pep leads the proceedings with nine wins after Sunday’s clash.
LEVEL WITH GUNNERS
The victory at Old Trafford also meant that City have equaled a record set by Arsenal between February and August 2002, for successive victories in the Premier League. Since their home draw against Everton in the second game of the league, they have won 14 games on the trot.
BEATING THE BEST
En route to their record-breaking feat, City have beaten all four teams that currently occupy a place in the top five.
They dismantled Liverpool 5-0 at home (4th), edged out Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge (3rd), outclassed Arsenal 3-1 (5th) at home and sealed it with the 2-1 win against Man United (2nd) at Old Trafford on Sunday.
