GURGAON: The police on Tuesday filed a case of murder against a school bus driver who allegedly hit a three-year-old boy, following which the boy died, in Mushedpur village of Farrukhnagar, 22 kilometres from Gurgaon city.

Residents of Mushedpur village on Tuesday held a protest and sit-in outside the school, demanding a murder case be registered against the driver of the school bus and the school owner as well.

Rakshit Yadav, a three-yearold boy, was crushed to death on Saturday morning when he had gone to the bus stop in the village along with his mother to see off his elder sister and cousins, who study in an international senior secondary school on Mushedpur-farrukhnagar road.

The bus belonged to the same school.

The boy’s parents, relatives and villagers, in large numbers, first went to the school in the morning and later blocked the Farrukhnagar-hailey Mandi Road for more than eight hours, demanding that a case of murder be registered against the school management and the accused driver, who is at large.

The villagers, who were of the opinion that the death was caused by a freak accident, got angry after they watched the CCTV camera footage of the incident. The footage was from a camera installed in the house of the victim’s uncle, Dharmender Yadav.

Yadav alleged that the bus driver had deliberately crushed the boy and this was visible in the CCTV footage captured by the cameras in his house.

“We have demanded that a case of murder be registered against the school driver as well as the management. The driver killed the boy as he had a grudge with me,” Yadav said.

With villagers not listening to senior police and administration officials, the traffic police had to divert the traffic on an alternative route.

The protesters were also supported by a large number of students who study in private colleges in the area.

Due to rising tension, the police had to call for an additional force as the number of protesters kept increasing till the evening and officials from Gurgaon had to rush to the spot to pacify the protesters.

Over 2,000 villagers from 11 villages joined the protest.

Gurgaon police, meanwhile, said that a case of murder has been registered against the accused. “The probe was being conducted and initially, a case under sections 279, 304 of the IPC was registered but based on more evidence, Section 302 has been added,” Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurgaon police, said.

The school authorities could not be contacted.
