Man shot by buffalo thieves succumbs to his injuries
HISAR : Protesters blocked the Uklana-hisar road on Thursday after a 40-year-old man, who was shot dead by unidentified buffalo thieves, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Hisar on late Wednesday night.
The protesters kept the body on the main road of Uklana and refused to cremate it, demanding speedy arrest of the accused. They also demanded compensation and a government job for the victim’s family members.
To pacify the angry protesters, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) AS Mann rushed to the spot and assured them that the administration will forward the demands to the government.
Residents of the village also formed a committee, under the leadership of Manjeet Singh, a former sarpanch of Sahu village and friend of the victim, to decide the further course of action.
Talking to mediapersons, Manjeet Singh, said, “The police have failed to arrest the accused so far. The committee has decided that the government should provide ₹50-lakh compensation and a government job to the victim’s family members. We have handed over our demands to the ADC. We have also decided not to cremate the body till the police arrest the accused. Women of the area also supported our protest and sat on dharna on the Uklana-hisar road.”
The 40-year-old man, identified as Inderpal Kamboj, was attacked outside his house in the wee of Wednesday when he was trying to stop some miscreants from stealing his buffalo.
