Australia regain the Ashes 3-0

Australia wrested the Ashes after thrashing England by an innings and 41 runs in the third Test in Perth. It was the ninth time Australia had clinched the urn in three Tests. England avoided a sweep with the fourth Test at MCG drawn.

Pakistan win Champions Trophy

They lost to India in the group stage but bounced back to win the final with a dominating performanc­e against their fiercest rivals. Pakistan posted 338, courtesy a sublime century by Fakhar Zaman. Pacer Mohammad Amir (3/16) then tore into India’s top order, guiding the team to a 180-run win.

England break India’s heart

Anya Shrubsole’s 6/46 saw England down a fighting India by nine runs in the final of the Women’s World Cup. India were cruising at

190/3 but Shrubsole sparked a late collapse, denying Mithali Raj’s team their first World Cup.

Misbah, Younis retire

Two of the finest servants of the game retired after helping Pakistan clinch their first Test series win in the Caribbean. With 3,213 runs shared by them in 53 Test innings, including by 15 century stands, this was the most prolific Pakistani Test pair.

A Grand record

New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme recorded the fastest maiden Test hundred, reaching 100 off 71 deliveries, against West

Indies in Wellington on December 2.

Super Gayle

Chris Gayle became the first batsman to hit a century of sixes in T20 Internatio­nals, reaching the mark against England on

September 16. He took just 49 innings.
