SHIMLA: Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, while hoping for a package from the Centre, met PM Narendra Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitley and expressed concern over the financial “illhealth” of the state.

“Various departments have been asked to work out proposals for generating more income,” he said, adding that the proposals would be sent to the Centre,” the CM said on Monday.

“The tight financial condition is a challenge for us,” he added.

“Government will make all efforts to ensure that poor finances do not have implications on the state’s development,” he said, adding that government was committed to work for the allaround development of the state.

Thakur said that wasteful expenditure during the Congress regime also added to the financial burden in the state.

“In the last year of its tenure, the Congress government made expansions without realising the financial health of the state,” the new CM said.

‘WORK DIL SE FOR 100 DAYS’

On the first day of the New Year, Thakur exhorted administrative secretaries and heads of various departments to go for 100 days ‘Dil Se’, (wholeheartedly) and complete all the pending works, besides setting new goals.

“Repeat it again for the next 100 days to take up new challenges for implementing the programmes of the government in letter and spirit,” he said.
