JAMMU : The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday handed over body of a Pakistani intruder, who was killed on Thursday, to Pakistani Rangers via Octroi border outpost in Suchetgarh area of RS Pura sector in Jammu, a BSF official said.
“We had informed Pak Rangers the same day about his killing. On Friday, they agreed to take his body,” BSF inspector general (IG) Ram Awtar of Jammu frontier told HT.
The slain intruder, who BSF said “seemed to be a terrorists’ guide”, was identified as Mohammed Anwar, son of Fazal Ahmed, a resident of Sahibkala in Sialkot of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Aged between 30 to 35 years, the intruder was wearing woollen clothes and a jacket with a hood over his head, when the BSF troopers detected him in RS Pura area amid dense fog and killed him around 7am on Thursday.
“There was a movement of at least three people, who came close to the embankment on the border and hid themselves. Taking advantage of the undulating terrain, one among them entered the Indian territory and was neutralised,” the IG said.
All this happened near Nikowal Border out Post (BOP) in Arnia sub sector of RS Pura, he added.
In the wake of sniper killing of a BSF jawan head constable RP Hazra in Samba sector on Wednesday followed by intrusion attempt in RS Pura sector, the BSF has been put on a high alert all along the 198 km long international border.
BSF sources said, “We have issued instructions to the formation commanders to take utmost care while patrolling on the border to avoid Pakistani snipers.”
