I USED TO WALK 9 KM TO SCHOOL, SAYS JAI RAM

SHIMLA/MANDI: CM Jai Ram Thakur visited his home turf Seraj for the first time on Sunday, after his government was sworn in.

At a public meeting in Bagsaid area of his constituen­cy, Thakur exhorted his supporters to be humble and gracious. “I will remain the same Jai Ram for people of Seraj, but now, I have bigger responsibi­lity towards a bigger family. But people of Seraj will always have a separate place in my heart,” said the CM.

In his address, Thakur said that on numerous occasions, people of Mandi were deprived of ‘chief ministersh­ip’. “It is after a long wait that the dream of people of Mandi has been realised,” he said. “I am indebted to the people of Seraj for supporting me,” he added.

The CM further talked about his schooling from Bagsaid and memories attached with the place. “I remember the time I spent in Bagsaid. I used to travel nine kilometres on one side from my village, Tandi, to Bagsaad for education. Now it is time to repay my people but you must keep patience,” he said to the gathering.

HEALTH CENTRE TO BE UPGRADED

Making his first announceme­nt in his home constituen­cy, the CM announced that the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bagsaid will be upgraded to a civil hospital. He also announced that irrigation-cum-public health division at Thunag.
