Apply for Amarnath yatra from March 1
JAMMU : The advanced registration of annual Amarnath pilgrimage will commence from March 1 this year via 440 bank branches of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Jammu and Kashmir Bank and YES Bank spread across 32 states and UTS, in the country.
The pilgrimage to the cave shrine in South Kashmir is scheduled to begin on June 28 and it will conclude on August 26.
Governor NN Vohra on Friday reviewed the arrangements being made for the yatra.
A special registration facility will also be available through PNB for ex-india pilgrims and for large groups directly from the offices of the shrine board.
Vohra directed the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) CEO to ensure no person below the age of 13 years or above 75 years is registered even though he or she might have obtained the compulsory health certificate.
The governor was given a detailed report about the arrangements being made in the yatra area along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes which, inter-alia, include facilities of providing water supply, electricity, overnight stay accommodation, temporary toilets and baths for the pilgrims and other sanitation arrangements.
No unauthorised tent or shop should be pitched in any camp, the governor directed.
