The girl, who is currently living in a shelter home, told members of a child welfare committee that her parents had died in a road accident. After her parents’ death, her neighbour, Neelam Devi, forced her into flesh trade.

Based on her statement, the district child protection officer of Kurukshetra lodged a complaint against Neelam and three others. While Neelam has been booked for immoral trafficking, three others, identified as Avtar Singh of Ratgal village, Ajay Kumar of Krishana Nagar and Rohit Kumar of Bank Colony of Kurukshetra, have been booked under the prevention of children from sexual offences Act.

When contacted, Kurukshetra women police station in-charge Praveen Kaur said that the victim, who was living in a shelter home in Ladwa town of Kurukhsetra, had told the members of the child welfare committee that she was raped by the accused last year.

The girl had been brought into the shelter home with her two sisters in October last year.

As per the police, the victim has refused to undergo a medical examination. The SHO said the accused were produced in the court and sent on police remand for further interrogation.
