2 women, aide held for black­mail, theft

SANGRUR : Po­lice here have ar­rested two women and a male aide of their on charges of tres­pass, black­mail and theft af­ter reg­is­ter­ing two cases on Tues­day. The three are Har­jit Kaur of Kha­dial vil­lage, and Ra­jwant Kaur and Gur­baksh Singh of Eal­wal vil­lage in the dis­trict.

Deputy Su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice (DSP), Su­nam, Wil­liam Jeji said the trio took valu­ables from many per­sons while threat­en­ing to im­pli­cate them in false cases.

He said that a shop­keeper, Wee­nis Ku­mar from Su­nam, filed a com­plaint that the women and Gur­baksh came to his shop on Fe­bru­ary 11 on the pre­text of mo­bile talk­time recharge, but they as­saulted him and looted a lap­top and some mo­bile phones be­sides Rs 15,000 cash.

“How­ever, they took in writ­ing from him that he was mis­be­hav­ing with them,” said the DSP.

“The two women also black­mailed their land­lord, Vijay Ku­mar, in Su­nam and wanted ex­emp­tion from rent. They threat­ened to im­pli­cate him in a false case of rape. Act­ing on these two com­plaints, we have made the ar­rests,” said Jeji.

The ac­cused have been booked un­der sec­tion 382 (theft af­ter prepa­ra­tion made for caus­ing death), 452 (house tres­pass), 323 (vol­un­tar­ily caus­ing hurt), 506 (crim­i­nal in­tim­i­da­tion) and 120B (con­spir­acy) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) at the Su­nam city po­lice sta­tion, an of­fi­cial said.
