ROHTAK/HISAR/KARNAL:THE administration heaved a sigh of relief as Balidan Divas observed by the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) to pay tributes to community members killed during the February 2016 Jat stir, passed off peacefully on Sunday.

Addressing a small gathering in Rohtak’s Jassia village, AIJASS national president Yashpal Malik said that they have given the government time till March 31 to fulfil their demands.

He added that the state government “fell in line” as soon as the community threatened to disrupt BJP chief Amit Shah’s rally in Jind.

“The day we announced our protest, the government started working and withdrew many cases. It has assured more cases will be withdrawn soon. For reservation, we have given them time till March 31,” the AIJASS chief said. “Some cases, such as loot and arson at finance minister Captain Abhimanyu’s house, will take longer to be withdrawn. But the government has assured it will happen.”

FRESH STIR IF DEMANDS NOT FULFILLED BY MARCH 31

Meanwhile, addressing a gathering in Mayyar village of Hisar district, AIJASS state spokesperson Rambhagat Malik said if the state government led by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar failed to keep its promises by March-end, the Jats will hold a meeting on April 15 to launch another protest.

“Elections are around the corner. If the Khattar government fails to keep the promises made to us on February 11, the Jats are also ready,” he said.

“The reservation fight started in September 2010. It’s 2018 now, but the matter is still under court’s consideration. Sunil Sheoran was the first youth killed in police firing in 2010. In 2016, the BJP government ordered firing and killed 18 of our people in different parts of Haryana,” said Rambhagat Malik.”

Malik also claimed that the Jat Sangathan is now bigger than even the RSS. He added that the Jat Sewa Sangathan will open an educational centre in Jassia so that Jat youths get quality education.

‘NOT AGAINST ANY COMMUNITY’

Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Ugrankheri village of Panipat, Yashpal Malik try to give out a message of social harmony, claiming that they were against any community but in favour of all 36 communities.

“The Jats were always in favour of social unity but some politicians tried to damage the social fabric and create a rift between the Jats and others.” “Not only Jats, people of other communities also died in the violence in 2016 when Haryana was left to burn by politicians of the ruling party,” he said, adding, “Some leaders were even trying to divide the Jats.” District level programmes were also held in Ballah village of Karnal, Jainpur in Kurukshetra, and Devban in Kaithal district. Heavy police deployment was put in place in all parts of the state to deal with any untoward incident.
