HYDERABAD: Describing India as the hotspot of digital innovation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it was the best place to leverage power of technology and leapfrog into the future.

MYSURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday continued his attack on chief minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress-led government in Karnataka, saying the choice before the people of the state was between a commission and a mission government.

Modi was addressing the ‘parivartan’ rally at the Maharaja College Ground here. Earlier, he along with Siddaramaiah had launched the Humsafar Express that connects Mysuru and Udaipur in Rajasthan.

With two months to go for the assembly elections in the state, the prime minister and the chief minister have been involved in a bitter verbal duel after Modi dubbed the state Congress regime “a 10% (commission) government” at a rally on February 4.

Referring to his jibe made in Bengaluru, Modi said he had received many angry calls and messages. “They told me I was misinformed. They said it was not 10%, but more than that,” he said.

“I want to ask you whether you want a commission or mission government. I have come here to promise you that the BJP will form the government and work on a mission for the state’s development,” Modi said.

The PM also trained his guns directly at Siddaramaiah, who hails from Mysuru district, saying he had forgotten the values of Mysuru after going to Bengaluru, the state capital.

Mysuru is the land of communal harmony, Modi said.

“A person who hails from here should never follow the wrong path. But he is in such company that... after going to Bengaluru he (Siddaramaiah) is leading the whole state towards destruction,” Modi said.

Saying Karnataka needed to speed up on the development track, the prime minister said there was a government at the Centre now that did not discriminate and helped every state develop as much as possible.

The money that the central government is giving is not reaching to the people, Modi said. “This is because that is not their priority. They are interested only in keeping Delhi happy,” he said.

State Congress working president Dinesh Gundu Rao criticised the prime minister’s speech.

“He has once again reiterated his claims against the state government. He appears to not have any issues to speak about here,” the Congress leader said.
