2 wanted gangsters arrested in Batala; arms recovered
BATALA : The police arrested two members of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, who were wanted by in six criminal cases.
The police seized one .32 bore revolver, six cartridges and one Bullet motorcycle from them.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Opinderjit Singh Ghumman said at a press conference here that after getting a specific tip-off that two gangsters were moving in and around the Dera Baba Nanak town, a police team, led by SHO, Dera Baba Nanak police station, Arvinder Singh, laid a naka near Shampura village and, during checking, they arrested gangster Gurmeet Singh alias Meeta, a resident of Khushalpur; and Karamjeet Singh alias Sabi, a resident of Dera Baba Nanak. A case under section 25/54/59 of the arms Act has been registered against them at the Dera Baba Nanak police station.
The SSP said that Gurmeet Singh was a ‘C’ category gangster and both these gangsters were active members of th ejaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, wanted by the police since 2012.
CRIMINAL PAST
In September 2012, a case under Section 364 of the IPC was registered against Gurmeet Singh and Karamjeet Singh at the Dera Baba Nanak police station. In January 2011, a case under Section 307 was lodged against Karamjeet Singh at the Ranger Nangal police station.
In May 2012, a case under Section 336 of the IPC was lodged against Karamjeet Singh at the Ranger Nangal police station.
In July 2013, a case under Sections 341 and 325 of the IPC was registered against Gurmeet at the Shahpura police sation in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
