7-YR-OLD GIRL’S BODY FOUND, RAPE FEARED

JALANDHAR: A 7-year-old girl was found murdered in Bara Pind village on Monday. Her body was found in a field on the outskirts of the village.

Police said the girl went missing from her house on Sunday afternoon.

A complaint was lodged by the family on Sunday evening after her parents, both migrant labourers, returned home from work.

Initial inquiry indicated that the girl might have been raped before being murdered, as there were some injury marks on her body.

Following information of the crime, superintendent of police (SP) Balkar Singh led by Goraya police rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.

“No one has been arrested so far. We are scanning CCTV footage of nearby places to get some clues,” the SP said.

SP did not comment on whether she was raped before being murdered. “It will be clear after the medical examination,” he said.
