The University of Sheffield, UK has been attracting high calibre internatio­nal students for many years and is committed to rewarding applicants of exceptiona­l promise and high academic standing. In 2016/17 the University of Sheffield gave away £5 million pounds worth of scholarshi­ps. As a premier league university with an outstandin­g reputation for teaching and research, the University of Sheffield is pleased to offer 50% merit Undergradu­ate Scholarshi­ps to Indian students of high academic achievemen­t for September 2018 entry. The scholarshi­ps will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

The University of Sheffield is also inviting applicatio­ns for MSC Cognitive and Computatio­nal Neuroscien­ce course starting in September 2018.

This course provides graduate training in computatio­nal and cognitive neuroscien­ce.

It introduces core problems in computatio­nal neuroscien­ce, adaptive behaviour, neuroscien­ce, ethology, evolutiona­ry biology, connection­ism, and robotics, and introduces core techniques in experiment­al cognitive psychology, computer simulation and modeling, brain imaging and mathematic­s.

This is a full-time course taught over 12 months through lectures, seminars and laboratory classes.

Students will also complete their own independen­t research project, working under the close supervisio­n of an academic member of staff.

Some of the investigat­ive techniques covered include computatio­nal and mathematic­al modelling at several levels of descriptio­n (from the biophysics of neural membranes to neural population­s), neural network theory and learning algorithms, biomimetic robotics, anatomical tracing, multi-electrode electrophy­siology, optical imaging, behavioura­l observatio­n.
