‘FACED PRESSURE WHILE PROBING MOGA SSP’S ROLE’
CHANDIGARH: Punjab DGP (human resource development) S Chattopadhyaya on Thursday submitted a report in a sealed cover on allegations against Moga SSP Raj Jit Singh Hundal in the drug case, and hinted that he was ‘pressured’ during the probe.
Later, he was heard by the HC bench in a chamber. The court has now asked state advocate general Atul Nanda to submit a report in April on the issues raised by Chattopadhyaya who later told the media that he found ‘something sensitive’ during the probe, which he wanted to share with the court. Recently, an SIT had sought permission from the Punjab DGP to question Chattopadhyaya in the suicide case of former Chief Khalsa Diwan vice-president Inderpreet Singh Chadha.
The court has also asked the state vigilance bureau not to file the final report in another FIR against inspector Inderjit Singh, who is being investigated along with the Moga SSP, without its nod.
HONEST OFFICERS EXTENDED ARM OF COURT, SAYS HC
The HC said officers who have been asked to probe are extended arm of the court and it won’t allow that these officers are hounded. “We are 24 hours available. You can contact us anytime,” the bench said.
The court was referring to submissions with regard to Chattopadhyaya and Niranjan Singh, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) official.
Meanwhile, the HC sought a report from the Centre on the status of extradition of drug case accused sitting abroad.
