GOVT TO FREE 3,912 ACRES FOR CATTLE, DOG POUNDS

-

CHANDIGARH: Local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said his department is in process of freeing 3,912 acres of land from illegal occupation for constructing cattle and dog pounds. Sidhu said this while responding to a call attention by leader of opposition in the assembly Sukhpal Singh Khaira on the menace of stray dogs and cattle leading to a number of accidents on state roads. “On this land, we plan to build cattle and dog pounds,” said Sidhu. Replying to a call attention motion raised by Congress MLA Sangat Singh Gilzian, public works department (PWD) minister Razia Sultana said toll fee is charged on the Dasuya-tanda, Tanda-hospiarpur and Hoshiarpurbalachaur roads as per the 2004 policy. Gilzian raised the issue that companies collecting toll were not providing adequate services and the condition of roads was pitiable. The minister said work on roads was done from time to time.
