HP CM announces ₹4 lakh ex gratia for Mosul victims

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday announced a relief of ₹4 lakh to the next of kin of all four Himachalis massacred by ISIS terrorists at Mosul in Iraq, officials said.

Thirty five Indians, including these four, were missing since 2014 and could not be located despite best efforts by the Union government.

Of the four youth from Himachal Pradesh, three hailed from Kangra district and one from Mandi.

Thakur spoke to the family members of the victims and said the state government was with them in this hour of distress, the officials said.

The CM said the tragedy was not just unfortunat­e but also a brutal, cowardly and inhuman act which should be condemned by one and all.
