AIIMS TO START FUNCTIONIN­G IN 2019: HARSIMRAT

CHANDIGARH : The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, will become functional with the Union health ministry giving nod for issuing tender for starting work on the campus building, which will pave way for starting diagnostic services and medical session in 2019.

The Union food processing industries minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, said this on Wednesday after meeting the health and family welfare minister, Jagat Prakash Nadda.

They have also finalised the timelines for completion of various works for the 750-bed facilities.

Harsimrat said the contract for constructi­on of the campus building would be awarded in May and the health ministry is in the process of calling for tenders for this.

She said the constructi­on work on the ₹925 crore project will be completed by 2020.
