Woman dies after birth control surgery in J&K

JAMMU: A 28-year-old woman died after undergoing tubectomy at a state-run hospital in Jammu & Kashmir’s Samba district on Tuesday.

Seema Devi, a Samba resident, underwent the operation at a special camp for family planning at Vijaypur Government Hospital. After her condition deteriorat­ed, the doctors referred her to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, where she later died.

Deceased’s husband Kuldeep Raj accused doctors at the hospital of negligence during the operation. “When, we came to the hospital, she was fine. It appears she died from an injection given by the doctor. I want that doctor to be suspended,” he said.

Demanding action against the doctor, family members of the woman along with the locals kept her body at the main Chowk in Vijaypur and blocked the national highway on Wednesday. however, after the assurances from the administra­tion of probe, they called off the protest.

Meanwhile, the police has already registered a case in the regard and initiated the investigat­ion.
