Rohtak woman alleges rape by estranged husband’s friend

VICTIM, A MOTHER OF TWO, LIVES IN A RENTED HOUSE SINCE SHE FILED CASE SEEKING DIVORCE FROM HER HUSBAND SOME MONTHS AGO

ROHTAK: A 35-year-old woman has alleged rape by a friend of her estranged husband repeatedly for over a month at her house in Urban Estate locality in Rohtak.

The woman, a mother of two, lived in a rented house after she filed divorce from her husband some months ago. The divorce case is pending in the court.

The woman alleged her estranged husband’s friend offered to help her in her difficult time after separation, but raped her repeatedly taking her advantage. She said between February 19 and March 21, the accused barged into her house at several instances against her wish and raped her.

She said she wanted to report the matter much earlier, but the accused used to beat her and threaten her of dire consequenc­es to her children if she informed anyone. She said she somehow managed to gather courage now and reported the matter.

Based on the complaint, the police have booked the accused, identified as 35-year-old Sudhir of of Beri village, under Section 376 (2) n (committing rape repeatedly on same woman), 323 (punishment for voluntaril­y causing hurt), 452 (house trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the IPC. The police said he was on the run. Meanwhile, the family of the accused met police and alleged that the allegation­s were false. Urban Estate police station SHO Devender Singh said they were investigat­ing the case.
