Committed to ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards graft: Jai Ram
SHIMLA: Listing the achievements of the state government on completing 100 days in Himachal Pradesh, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, on Monady said though 100 days are not enough to achieve ultimate goals but small initiatives have been taken in public interest.
While addressing the mediapersons during a press briefing, the CM said his government is committed to its policy of “zero tolerance” towards corruption and a lokayukta appointed in the state shortly.
“The process to fill the post of Lokayukta in the state will begin soon,” he said.
Mentioning about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “chargesheet” against the previous Congress government in the state, the CM said the issues mentioned in the “chargesheet” have been referred to the concerned departments. “As and when the reports come, we will proceed on the chargehseet,” Thakur said.
The chargehseet was submitted to governor Acharya Devvrat by the BJP during the Congress regime and CM Jai Ram Thakur was also the part of the panel who prepared it.
In the chargehseet, corruption allegations were levelled against then chief minister Virbhadra Singh and 40 other Congress leaders including many of the state ministers. The party had also claimed that the chargehseet included the proof.
On being asked, why the government is again seeking reports when it had already submitted the proofs, Jai Ram said, “Reports are required for free and fair investigation. We are not in a hurry and I have made it clear that my government will not unleash the political vendetta.”
On being asked whether former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and Union minister JP Nadda are supportive or hurdle in the government’s agenda, Thakur said, “Now I am the CM and other questions are baseless.”
