ROHTAK: A decomposed body of a six-year-old girl was found stuffed inside a bag from a canal at Rohtak’s Titoli village on Sunday.

The police suspect the body could have been rotting in the bag for the past one week, as the victim’s eyes were gouged out and a hand completely eaten by animals.

The police said they could not identify the girl till late evening, though four teams have been formed that are reaching out to police stations across Haryana and neighbouring states to find out about missing girls of this age.

A farmer working in his fields found the bag inside the canal, with one arm of the deceased hanging out while the other parts zipped inside. He pulled out the bag and informed the police.

A team reached the spot with FSL experts. Investigation officer Devi Singh said the postmortem of the girl could not be conducted on Sunday and will be done at Post Graduation Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) on Monday.

“The girl is wearing a red t-shirt and black knicker. She has long hair and red-color nail paint. We have registered a case of murder and evidence destruction against unknown. If rape is confirmed in the postmortem, then POCSO Act will also be added in the FIR,” he said.
