Haryana to honour all 22 CWG medallists from state, says CM
KARNAL : The Haryana government will honour all 22 medallists of the 21st Commonwealth Games from the state at a programme on April 26, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Monday.
He also praised sportspersons of the state and added that Haryana has highest number of CWG medallists in the country.
The gold medal winners will get a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore, silver medal winners Rs 75 lakh, and bronze medallist Rs 50 lakh, Khattar said at a public meeting in Siwah village in Panipat district.
The CM also announced that 29 unauthorised colonies in Panipat would be regularised and a new bus stand would be constructed at Matlauda town in the district.
The chief minister was addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of the general bus stand at Siwah village and a workshop at the city bus stand, Panipat, said that a sum of Rs 17 crore will be spent on these projects.
The government has added 600 new buses to the fleet of the Haryana Roadways for the convenience of people and provided better transportation, he added.
He said the new bus station would be constructed on six and a half acres of land. He said the government has taken a historic decision by setting up a Haryana Pond Authority with the objective to ensure cleanliness of water and to promote sanitation in the state. The chief minister also listed various achievements of the present government and added that the government has made fruitful efforts to ensure transparent and corruption-free governance.
