HP cabinet approves new guidelines for safe ferrying of kids
Transport dept will send letters to all principals of private schools in this regard
SHIMLA: A week after Nurpur bus crash which claimed the lives of 28 people including 24 school children, the Himachal Pradesh cabinet on Monday gave in principle approval to transportation guidelines for the safe plying of transport vehicles deployed in schools.
In the meeting chaired by chief minister, Jai Ram Thakur, it was decided that the transport department will send letter to all principals of the private schools on behalf of the chief minister informing them about the school transportation safety guidelines.
SHIMLA TO HAVE WATER SUPPLY AUTHORITY
The cabinet also gave its nod to constitute Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) for managing town’s water supply and wastewater management. The SJPNL also envisaged at treating the non potable water, wastewater collection, treatment, reuse, recycling and disposal.
The estimated project cost is ₹770 crore and will be implemented with financial assistance from the World Bank.
OTHER CABINET DECISIONS
The cabinet decided to provide honorarium of ₹21,500 per month, three percent annual increment, 12 days casual leave and 10 days medical leave along with framing of transfer policy for the Gram Vidya Upasak (EGS) working in elementary education department on the analogy of primary assistant teachers.
The cabinet also decided to create and fill up various posts in special purpose vehicle (SPV) for Shimla and Dharamshala Smart City Mission to execute works worth ₹2,906 crore and ₹2,105 crore respectively.
For Shimla Smart City, 24 posts will be filled on secondment basis and 26 posts of different categories will be filled up on outsource basis. Similar number of posts will also be filled for Dharamshala as well.
It was also decided to create a new project implementation unit (PIU) sub-division of Himachal Pradesh public works department (HPPWD) at Kangu (Salapar) in Mandi district along with nine posts of different categories for expediting work on widening of Salapar-tatapani road under Central Road Fund. The central government, however, has approved ₹219 crore for the project.
The cabinet also gave its nod to construct additional rooms in HPPWD Rest House Thunag in Mandi district.
