KARNAL: Two days after 40-yearold Narender Singh went missing, along with his three daughters, from Israna village of Panipat district on Thursday night, the police on Sunday recovered bodies of two girls from a canal.

A search operation for Narender and the third daughter was underway, said police. Police said they were taking help of divers as they suspected that Narender and the third daughter may have also jumped into the same canal.

Police said Narender, who had been suffering from tuberculosis for the past several years called his brother Surender Singh on Thursday night and told him that he was going to commit suicide with his three daughters Shalu (11), Shikha (7) and Zaira (4) by jumping into a canal in Panipat.

After the phone call, Surender informed the police about the matter and the cops launched a search for Narender and his daughters. The police found that the last location of Narender’s mobile phone was near Panipat refinery

On Sunday, they recovered bodies of Sikha and Zaira from the canal in Rohtak district and they were handed over to the family members after postmortem.

Israna deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Bijender Singh said the search operation was still on and police were taking help of Sonipat and Rohtak police. He added that they had also started search operation in the canal with help of the irrigation department.
