Palampur gangrape: Police issue lookout notice against 3 accused

A 15YROLD GIRL WAS RAPED BY FIVE PERSONS IN A FOREST NEAR PAROUR IN PALAMPUR

DHARAMSHAL­A: The local police have issued a lookout circular notice against three accused in the Palampur gangrape case involving a minor. The accused have been on the run after committing the crime.

Kangra superinten­dent of police (SP) Santosh Patyal said one of the accused has been to a foreign country in the past.

“We have issued a lookout circular notice against the three accused so that they can’t flee,” said Patyal.

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by five persons in a forest near Parour in Palampur, Kangra district.

The incident allegedly took place on Thursday, the police said.

The Class-11 girl had gone to a temple located in the forest area with her male friend, where five unidentifi­ed men allegedly thrashed her friend and took turns to rape the hapless victim After returning home, the victim informed her family members about the incident, following which her parents on Friday lodged a complaint at the Palampur police station.

Police claimed to have cracked the case within 24 hours of the incident and have arrested two minor accused involved in the crime.

Both the accused in their 17’s, belong to a village near Paraur where the crime took place.

They were produced by the police before the juvenile justice board on Sunday and were sent to the correction­al home in Una.

Only one of the five accused has a criminal record.
