GURUGRAM: The bail plea hearing of the 16-year-old juvenile, accused of the murder of a minor at a private school, was adjourned to May 8 on Monday. The bail application of the juvenile was scheduled to be heard before justice Rajan Gupta at the Punjab and Haryana high court, Chandigarh.

The accused juvenile had been apprehended by the CBI on November 7 in the case.

His father had filed the petition for revision and bail on February 16 on the grounds that investigation had not been completed within the prescribed period of one month.

The CBI had filed a 15-page reply in court, opposing the bail, on April 5. The agency had given several reasons in its reply as to why bail should not be granted by the high court — such as investigation in the case was pending, the case was at a crucial stage, certain witnesses were yet to be examined, and the juvenile could tamper with the evidence if released.

“The filed petitions are an abuse of the process of the court and therefore shall be opposed by the deceased’s family tooth and nail. We contend that bail be refused as the murder victim was an innocent child who was killed without any provocation,” said Sushil Tekriwal, counsel for the victim. The central forensic science laboratory report also established that the fingerprints of the accused matched with the fingerprints that were lifted by the CFSL team on September 23 from the school toilet door where the boy was murdered.

The accused’s internet search history also shows that he searched online for how to remove fingerprints after committing a crime.

The juvenile justice board had dismissed the juvenile’s bail plea on December 15 and the Gurugram children’s special court dismissed his bail plea on January 8.
