Gang of bike thieves busted in Amritsar, four arrested
FIVE STOLEN MOTORCYCLES AND FOUR MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED FROM THE POSSESSION OF ACCUSED
AMRITSAR :The Tarsikka police of the district claimed to have busted a gang of motorcycle thieves with the arrest of four of its members, following a tip-off near Adda Khujala, on Monday.
The police also recovered five stolen motorcycles and four stolen mobile phones from the possession of accused, Tarsem Singh, Harpreet Singh, Lovepreet Singh and Akashdeep Singh of Kohatwind village, falls under the jurisdiction of Mehta police station.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Manjit Singh of Tarsikka police station said, “While leading the police team, which was patrolling near Adda Khujala, I received a tip-off about the accused. During a routine check, the team stopped the accused, who were on two different motorcycles, on the bases of suspicion.”
“When asked them to show the required documents, they failed to produce any document,” he said, adding that they arrested them with their two bikes.
During interrogation, the accused confessed and said, they had made a gang of motorcycle thieves and their gang was active in stealing two wheelers from public places. After interrogation, the team also recovered three more stolen motocycles from them.
“A case under Sections 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused,” he added.
