BJP govt insulting farmers, players, soldiers: Hooda

-

CHANDIGARH: Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said that the ruling BJP government had been insulting farmers, players and soldiers, “the very people Haryana was known for”.

He said that the government had recently refused to pay the full reward money to players of Haryana who had done the country proud by winning medals in the Commonwealth Games-2018, as they had been employed with organisations other than the state government.

“A player, irrespective of state or organisations, represents the country in international events. How can Haryana which has a policy to give reward money for medal winners, refuse full amount to these players of the state?” he questioned and said that that was why the players felt insulted and boycotted the state government’s function. The state government had also failed to give suitable employment to any medal winner, he added.

To another question, he said that the farmers too felt cheated as the government had failed to lift their mustard seeds and they were compelled to sell their produces below the minimum support price. Other irregularities were also rife at grain markets, he said. Accusing BJP of its failure to check spate of crimes and illegal mining in the state, Hooda also said that the Centre had also failed to fulfill its promise of onerank-one-pension to army personnel. He further said that he will resume the same from June 3 from Panipat.
