THE ACCUSED WENT TO PAKISTAN ON APRIL 3 TO VISIT THEIR RELATIVES IN MULTAN ON A 30DAY VISA AND RETURNED ON TUESDAY

AMRITSAR : The custom department arrested two septuagenarians from Uttar Pradesh with a .30 bore pistol at the Attari integrated check post (ICP) after their return from Pakistan on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Multan Ahmed,75, of Prabud Nagar, and Nisar Ahmed, 72, of Saharanpur in UP.

A senior officer of the department, who didn’t want to be named, said that the accused went to Pakistan on April 3 to visit their relatives in Multan on a 30-day visa and returned at 1:30 pm on Tuesday. “When officials of the department searched a pressure cooker, being carried by Multan Ahmed, they recovered the pistol kept in the cooker,” he said.

During investigation, Multan told the custom officials that the pressure cooker was given to him by one Abdul Rehman, 30, of Lahore, to be delivered to one Rehman (mobile no. 8273573816) at Rampur Mohalla, Shamali in UP, said the officer. He said he did not know that there was a pistol in the cooker.

The accused was to take ₹4,000 for the delivery of the cooker in UP. He had already taken ₹3,000 from Abdul Rehman, said the officer.

The officer said further investigation is going on and, after investigation, the accused will be handed over to the police.
