London:punjab-origin man Gurdip Samra, 44, has been jailed for seven years and eight months for his role in conspiring to supply 10kg cocaine in London, officials said on Wednesday.

Samra and Mark Lammin were arrested in November 2017 by a team of the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Scotland Yard. Lammin got a sentence of six years and six months at Kingston Crown Court.

The team first arrested Lammin after they stopped him carrying 10kg cocaine. Then, officers stopped a black car parked in the vicinity and arrested Samra.

During a search of Lammin’s home, officers found a stun gun and charged him with possessing a prohibited weapon.

Matt Mcmillan of the Organised Crime Partnership said, “Lammin was blatantly walking the streets of London with 10 kilos of cocaine in a holdall – that he pleaded guilty at the first opportunity shows that he knew exactly what he was doing. The fact he was also in possession of a prohibited weapon highlights the risk he posed.”

“The supply and trafficking of drugs is a business which relies on cash flow – the loss of an expensive commodity will stall transactions on both sides, creating a lack of trust between crime groups,” he said, adding, “Disrupting the supply of class A drugs is crucial in our efforts to tackle organised crime and the violence it causes in and around London.”
