Poor show by schools in border districts

TARN TARAN IS AT BOTTOM WITH 33.34 PASS %, FOLLOWED BY FEROZEPUR (52.33%), PATHANKOT (52.92%) AND AMRITSAR (54.86%)

MOHALI : Unlike last year, bordering district of Punjab fared badly in the Punjab State Education Board Class 10 examinatio­n.

The border districts, including Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar and Gurdaspur are on the bottom of pass percentage chart this time. The picture was different last year when the four of these districts topped the pass percentage tally.

Tarn Taran district is at bottom of the list with 33.34 pass percentage, followed by Ferozepur (52.33%), Pathankot (52.92%) and Amritsar (54.86%). Fazilka is at 16th position with 61.6 pass percentage while Gurdaspur is at 17th with 59.96% result.

Fatehgarh Sahib is at sixth place with 67.12%, Rupnagar and Mohali share seventh place with 66.94% pass percentage, Faridkot with 65.66% is at the eighth position and Sangrur at ninth with 65.19%.

With a pass percentage of 64.9, Patiala is at 10th position, Moga at 11th with 64.16%, Kapurthala is at 10th place with 63.58% and Barnala at 13th place with 63.19%. Jalandhar is at 14th spot with 62.22% students clearing the exams.

POOR ENGLISH RESULT

Most of the students failed in English. Of the total 3.36lakh students, 89,789 failed in English; 27,659 in Punjabi; 60,487 in maths; 54,269 in computer science; 45,866 in science and 42,581 failed in Hindi.
